Applies extensive knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices and standards in the area of developing comprehensive schedules required to manufacture aircraft and aerospace products. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems requiring independent judgment and ingenuity to modify standards and procedures relative to developing comprehensive schedules required to manufacture aircraft and aerospace products including such items as raw materials, purchased parts, equipment, and other like items. Management applies general guidance related to resolution of complex problems and outcomes. Analyzes and defines the systems requirements and develops systems specifications and programming. Installs databases of pertinent information for use in creating a master schedule for product manufacturing. Reviews and evaluates engineering drawings and blueprints to estimate quantity and type of materials, parts, or other items required. Converts requirements to orders of conventional sizes and quantities, considering factors such as existing inventories, unavoidable waste, and kind of material to be used. Reviews material lists for conformance to company standard practices in regard to parts and materials used. Prepares or authorizes preparation of purchase requisitions. Schedules deliveries based on production forecasts, material substitutions, storage and handling facilities, and maintenance requirements. Estimates need to reorder supplies due to rejections and engineering changes during manufacturing cycle. Confers with purchasing, engineering, planning, and other personnel to exchange information regarding inventories, schedules, and related issues. This position may provide administrative and technical leadership over other Stakeholders in the department. Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
Formal Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and six (6) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Works under limited direction. Guidance as to objectives, critical issues and policy. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and methods. Communication and Special Skills: Communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups. Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to travel between facilities and operate standard office equipment. Work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week as required. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
